The ties between Ukrainian people, and the history of the Anthracite
Coal Region of Northeastern Pennsylvania, are well documented.
In 2016 Constance Postupack created a “Tribute Walk” event, held
every five years, to honor our Ukrainian immigrant ancestors’
commitment to their faith, and evidenced by their long walks from
McAdoo to attend Liturgy in Shenandoah in the years before St.
Mary’s Parish in McAdoo was built.
The Walk for Ukraine will emulate the format of the Tribute Walk
while taking on a special urgent mission: to bring together people of
many different parishes, faiths, and towns in NEPA and encourage
donations to support The Fund for Humanitarian Aid to Ukraine
which has already delivered over $5 million to Ukrainian people.
A fun,
family event with a timely,
charitable purpose.
Join with neighbors friends
and co-workers
to aid Ukrainian
women & children.
Join in-person (or virtually)
for some or for all of this
16-mile walk from McAdoo
to Shenandoah PA,
recalling a weekly journey
taken by Ukrainian
immigrants
a century ago.
